Switch Module
A communications solution offered by Citel Technologies
that allows for seamlessly connecting remote offices to the
corporate PBX or KTS. The Switch Module or Switch Module
resides at the corporate site.
PC
Personal Computer - A computer designed for use by one
person at a time.
Ping
Packet Internet Groper. A utility that forwards data packets
to check the quality of a link or verify the connection of a
machine to the Internet.
Port
An interface through which data is sent and received.
Protocol
Rules controlling data flow in a communications system.
PSTN
Public Switched Telephone Network. The traditional, wired
telephone network.

Reboot
To reinitialize the execution of a program by repeating the
initial program load (IPL) operation.
Release Notes
Citel issues Release Notes for each version of the Switch
Module and Remote Module – these notes include
information about new features, and also about any known
issues.
Remote
The Remote. A communications solution offered by Citel
Technologies that allows for seamlessly connecting remote
offices to the corporate PBX or KTS. The Remote resides at
the remote site.
RF
Radio Frequency electromagnetic radiation which is emitted
by electrical circuits carrying rapidly changing signals, as a
by-product of their normal operation, and which causes
unwanted signals (interference or noise) to be induced in
other circuits.
RJ11
A standard connector that is used to connect to the
telephone line.
RJ45
An eight-wire jack used with Cat5 cable and Ethernet
cabling.
RS232
RS232 is an electrical signaling specification published by
the Electronic Industries Association (EIA). Although not
identified in the specification, the 25-pin (DB25) connector,
with specific pin assignments, is commonly accepted as "the
RS232 connector or the serial connector."
Router
A device or setup that finds the best route between any two
networks, even if there are several networks to traverse. Like
bridges, remote sites can be connected using routers over
dedicated or switched lines to create WANs (Wide Area
Networks).
