a)
Companding
– This is a telecommunications standard, by region, for the
transmission of voice. In North America the standard is µLaw (pronounced mu
law) and in Europe the standard is aLaw. When the companding is not set
correctly voice will sound choppy and garbled.
b)
Tx Volume Level
– The outgoing volume level of the signal can be adjusted to
decrease the amount of echo that may be experienced during calls in some
areas. The transmit level can be adjusted from 25% to 150%.
c)
Rx Volume Level
- The incoming volume level of the signal can be adjusted to
decrease the amount of echo that may be experienced during calls in some
areas. The transmit level can be adjusted from 25% to 150%.
d)
Silence Detection
– When voice is transmitted over the network it is treated as
data. If silence detection is enabled then no “data” is sent across the network
during silent periods of a conversation.
e)
Jitter Delay
– This is the amount of delay (in milliseconds) in sending voice
packets to account for the “Jitter” in a particular network. If not set properly voice
may sound choppy. Increasing the Jitter Delay parameter reduces audible audio
noise and helps prevent this from occurring. If required, it is recommended to
begin at 10 ms when adjusting for network jitter.
