FCC
Federal Communications Commission - The FCC has the
authority to regulate all interstate communications
originating in the United States.
Free Space
Free space in a storage device. The space that in any given
time does not belong to any file or the file system itself
(system information). New files will be stored in the free
space area.
Firewall
A firewall is either the program or the computer it runs on,
usually an Internet gateway server that protects the
resources of one network from users from other networks.
Typically, an enterprise with an intranet that allows its
workers access to the wider Internet will want a firewall to
prevent outsiders from accessing its own private data
resources.
Flash (File)
Flash memory is a non-volatile memory device that retains
its data after the power is removed.
Flow Control
The way in which information is controlled in a network to
prevent loss of data when the receiving buffer is near its
capacity.
FTP
File Transfer Protocol - A very common method of moving
files between two network devices. FTP is a way to login to
another network device for the purposes of retrieving and/or
sending files. FTP was invented and in wide use long before
the advent of the World Wide Web and originally was always
used from a text-only interface.

The ITU G.165 Recommendation was initially developed to
standardize echo canceller performance and ensure network
interoperability.
G.729A
G.729 is an audio data compression algorithm for voice that
compresses voice audio in chunks of 10 milliseconds. Music
or tones such as DTMF or Fax tones cannot be transported
reliably with this codec, and thus use G.711

Impedance
A measurement of resistance to current that a transmission
medium offers. It is measured in ohms.
Interface
The hardware and software that enables electronic devices to
share information.
IP
Internet Protocol, often-used abbreviation for TCP/IP.
IPX
Internetwork Packet Exchange (IPX) is a networking protocol
from Novell that interconnects networks that use Novell's
NetWare clients and servers.

JavaScript is a script language - a system of programming
codes, created by Netscape that can be embedded into the
HTML of a web page to add functionality.
