Cisco uBR7200 Series Universal Broadband Router
A fully configured Cisco uBR7246VXR router can operate with only one installed power supply;
however, a second, optional power supply of the same type provides hot-swappable, load-sharing, and
redundant power. In a chassis using two power supplies, if one power supply fails or is removed, the
redundant power supply immediately takes over the router’s power requirements and maintains normal
operation without interruption.
The power supply has the router’s main power switch and either an AC-input power receptacle, or three
hardwired DC-input power leads (depending on the type of installed power supply). Two chassis
grounding receptacles adjacent to the lower power supply bay, provide a chassis ground connection for
ESD-preventive equipment or a two-hole grounding lug. (See
Figure 1-2 on page 1-5 .).
Note Figure 1-2 shows the rear of a Cisco uBR7246VXR router configured with two 280W AC-input power
supplies.
Caution If you are using two power supplies, make sure that each one is plugged into a separate branch circuit.
A fully loaded router, with two installed power supplies and all chassis slots filled, weighs approximately
100 pounds (45.4 kg). For clearance requirements and rack-mount installation considerations, refer to
the
“Site Environment” section on page 2-6 .
Note
The Cisco uBR7246 and Cisco uBR7246VXR routers have the same form factor. However, only the
Cisco uBR7246VXR router has a cable clock card.
