Appendix 5 Amplifier Gain Compression Measurement

Receiver Attenuator
: refer to the attenuator specified as the receiver to be connected to the DUT output
port.

Source Leveling Mode
: select the specified internal amplitude stabilization mode.
Power sweep:

Power Points
: refer to the number of power points required for two-dimensional sweep measurement.
The power point number may be limited by the frequency point number. This item is not included in
intelligent sweep, as the compression level is found based on sufficient power points in the intelligent sweep
mode.

Start and stop power
X/Y sweep
: for the return, X/Y and maximum gain compression, the reference gain and compression point are
measured within the power range. Therefore, the range should be wide enough to include the reference gain
and compression point.
For example, if the return level is 10dB, the power range must be more than 10dB.
Otherwise, the closest reference gain and compression point will be used to determine the compression value in
amplifier gain compression, which will lead to inaccurate results. In the linear gain compression, the reference gain
is measured at the linear power level, and the start and stop power levels are used to find the compression point.
Intelligent sweep
: the power range is set to be larger than the compression point searched in amplifier gain
compression.
The reference gain found in compression is applied to the linear power level. The return and X-axis
value are determined according to the compression method. The repeated sweep to find the compression point
should be reduced.

Low-band high-power mode
If DUT needs higher input power to realize compression below 3.2GHz, the high power mode should be used.
Click [Path configuration] > [Low-band high-power mode].

calculated according to the current start, stop and point number settings. It cannot be changed
directly.
Path configuration:
Open the [Path configuration] dialog box.
