V. Measuring

Information

The Mütek™ PCD-05 measures the streaming potential
of an aqueous sample. To detect its charge level a titra-
tion is performed until reaching a streaming potential of
0 mV. Titration may be performed manually or better
with help of an automatic titrator.
For manual operation of the Mütek™ PCD-05 Particle

Charge Detector, use a measuring pipette to transfer

titrant drop by drop into the measuring cell (see "Fig. 5-

6", page 39). The endpoint, that is the point of zero

charge, is reached when the streaming potential is at 0

mV.

5.1 Safety

rules

Be sure to follow the chapter I. "Basic safety instructi-

ons", page 7 before commissioning the Mütek™ PCD-

05.

5.2 Personnel

requirements

Only qualified and skilled personnel are allowed to ope-

rate the Mütek™ PCD-05.

5.3 Limitations

Multi user functionality is not supported

PCD-05 Smart Web application does not support multi-

user functionality. This means that several users can

connect to the instrument using the Wi-Fi but they will

not have possibility to synchronize each other's actions.

Web application will not show if someone else is opera-

ting with the instrument and how instrument is acting

depending on actions received from another user.
For example, if one user starts titration, another user will

not be able to see how its results are being built up

(titration curve).
Our recommendation is that one user at the time should

operate with the instrument using Wi-Fi.

Web cookies are not supported

PCD-05 Smart Web application does not have support

for web cookies. Which means that we do not store any

information in your web browser. Once you disconnect

from the instrument (Wi-Fi out of range, instrument

restart, browser refresh) you will enter the main page

and default states will be displayed.
For example, once you start titration button "Start Titra-

tion" will change to "Stop Titration" and you see values

of demand, potential (and pH) being updated, see

picture "PCD-05 Smart on-going titration". In the case

you do refresh of your web browser, on-going titration in

Measure tab will go back to the default state and on-

going titration is no longer displayed. You might still

hear the sound in the instrument, but Web application

shows its default state, see figure below of "PCD-05

Smart Measure Tab in default state".
