6.5 Double head mode 

NOTE for the installer 

The double head mode is enaled in the MACHINE CONFIGURATION 
window. 
The double head mode is selected by means of the PRINT HEADS field 
of the PRINTERS group and it can only be selected if the IO expansion 
(PC104/1) has been previous enabled by means of the relative menu (IO 
EXPANSION). 

Once the double head mode has been selected, an additional group of 
fields, similar to those required to configure the product printer, will 
appear. The serial port, type of printer (air, arm, etc.) and resolution can 
also be selected for the second printing head. 
Moeover, "Application target 2" appears in the list of targets, specifying 
the application position in relation to the second printing head. 
In this configuration, the client can select the "additional head" (default) 
or "alternative head" operating modes as required. 

 

6.5.1 Additional head 

The "additional head" operating mode (identified by symbol "1+2" in the 
first box on the right of the help bar) is characterized by the fact that 2 
labels can be applied on each package at the same time. To do this, a 
layout can be entered for the second printing head in addition to the 
permanently available one, when this operating mode is selected in the 
plu. 
If both layouts are specified, both labels will be printed and each will be 
applied to the piece on a level with the relative head. The labels are sent 
to the two heads in sequence. This ensures that double application is 
unable to produce delays (thus slowing the frequency), so long as the 
distance between the two heads is less than the space the piece travels 
within the time it takes to transmit the second head's label to the printer. 
This condition is always verified with the exception of extremely 
particular situations (e.g. large images on the label transmitted to each 
weighing operation). 
If the machine's operating mode envisages dynamic application, both 
the labels will be applied in the dynamic mode and a similar thing occurs 
in the static mode. In all cases where the piece stops under the
