Boost mode
• Boost mode is used to gain extra power and faster
acceleration for short periods.
• This should be used sparingly, as it requires a lot of
battery power.
Braking
Warning:
• Braking suddenly or too forcefully may cause
the wheels to lock. If you do not use the braking
system in the correct manner, you risk losing control of
the bicycle and falling off.
• Always maintain a safe distance between yourself and
other vehicles, people, animals or stationary objects.
• Adapt this distance and the braking force to suit
the prevailing conditions.
Foot brake
Warning:
When you pedal backwards, the crank arms rotate a little
way before the brake is activated.
1. Ensure that the backmost pedal is in a higher position
than the foremost pedal when you begin braking.
2. Pedal backwards gently (press the backmost pedal
downwards) to apply the brake.
Hand/rim brake
Warning:
• Causing the front wheel to lock means that there is
a major risk that the rear wheel will leave the ground,
throwing you forwards over the handlebars.
•
For bicycles sold in all countries (except the United
Kingdom), the following applies:
-
The brake lever (M) on
the left-hand side of
the handlebars
controls
the front brake
, whilst
the brake lever (Q) on
the right-hand side of
the handlebars
controls
the rear brake
.
•
For bicycles sold in the United Kingdom,
the following applies:
-
The brake lever (M) on
the left-hand side of
the handlebars
controls
the rear brake
, whilst
the brake lever (Q) on
the right-hand side of
the handlebars
controls
the front brake
.
1. To brake effectively, gently pull both brake levers at
the same time.
2. If the road surface provides good grip, you can
brake more effectively by braking a little more with
the front brake.
3. If the road surface provides poor grip, you should
exercise caution with the front brake and brake more
with the rear brake instead.
Steering
Warning:
Steer the bicycle by gently turning the handlebars while
lightly leaning the bicycle into the turn.
1. Press [ S ] to select boost mode. The display indicates
that boost mode is on by showing the
S
symbol.
2. Press [ S ] to turn off boost mode. The symbol
disappears from the display.
Walking assistance
Select walking assistance when you want to lead
the bicycle with the greatest possible ease. The motor
propels the rear wheel at walking pace (< 6 km/h).
1. Turn the gear shifter to position 1.
Important:
When using walking assistance, it
is important that the gear system is set to a low/
easy gear so that the speed does not exceed normal
walking pace.
2. Press down
[ S ] (C4), and
the motor will
propel the bicycle
at walking pace for
as long as you hold
the button down.
3. Release [ S ] to turn the motor off.
