3. When the brake lever is in the required position, tighten
the fixing screw.
Brakes
The position of the brake pads
1. Loosen
the mounting
screw of the brake
lever by turning
it a few times in
an anti-clockwise
direction.
2. Move the levers
inwards or
outwards along
the handlebars,
and/or move
the levers to
the required angle.
Brake levers
The position of the brake levers on the handlebars can
be adjusted. It is also possible to adjust the distance of
the actual brake lever from the handlebars/handgrip to suit
the size of your hands. Small hands will require a shorter
distance.
4. Turn the socket head screw (M/Q4):
-
in a clockwise direction to reduce the distance
between the brake lever and the handlebars.
-
in an anti-clockwise direction to increase
the distance to the handlebars (the bicycle is
first delivered with this screw unscrewed to
the maximum amount, and with the greatest
possible distance between the lever and
the handlebars).
5. Check the distance between the brake pads and
the rim, as well as the distance between the brake
lever and the handlebars (see
Brakes/Tension of
the brake cable
in the
Settings and adjustments
section).
• The braking surface of the brake pads must be parallel
to the wheel rim. There should be a distance of at least
1 mm between the top edge of the brake pad and
the tyre, and at least 1 mm between the bottom edge
of the brake pad and the bottom edge of the rim.
• If any of the brake pads is not positioned as described,
this must be adjusted. For best results, adjust
the brake pads in pairs.
1. Undo the brake
pad set screws
(T/Y3) by turning
them once or
twice in an anti-
clockwise direction
with a 5 mm
hex key. It will
now be possible
to realign and to
move the brake
pads upwards/
downwards.
2. Lightly press the brake pads against the wheel rims by
squeezing the brake lever.
3. Move the brake pads into the correct position while
maintaining light pressure with the brake lever.
4. Pull the brake lever with full force and tighten the brake
pad set screws.
5. Release the brake lever and hold the brake pads in
place, one by one, with your hand. Tighten the screws
for the brake pads.
Tension of the brake cable
The distance between the brake pads and the rim must be
1–2 mm. If the distance is:
• greater than 2 mm, you must tighten the brake cable
• less than 1 mm, you must loosen the brake cable.
