Setting Your Guide to work with your VCR
NOTES:
• This will not tell your VCR to record a program. You must still program your
VCR to record channel 3 (or 4 in IL/PA) at a certain day and time.
• If your converter is hooked in to your VCR via RCA Type jacks, you probably will not
be able to make a VCR-programmed timer work correctly. Most VCR’s do not let
you record “LINE IN” channels, just modulation channels like 3 or 4.
1. Press [GUIDE] on your remote to get to the
Channel listings.
2. Scroll to a future program that you want to
set a reminder and press [SELECT] on
your remote
(Figure 1).
3. The Future Program Selection screen will
Appear (Figure 2). Scroll to “ Set VCR
Timer ” and choose “ This Instance ”,
“ Daily ”, “ Weekly ”, “ Monday through
Friday ”, or “ Saturday and Sunday ” for the
time slot you have selected. Press the [A]
Button to accept.
Setting up your VCR
• Be sure that your VCR is turned off when you complete this procedure. VCRs
require you to turn them off for their programmed timers to work.
• Be sure that there is a recordable blank tape in your VCR. If you are reusing a
tape, be sure that the record tabs have not been removed.
How do VCR Timers work in Passport?
The passport interface has a handy way of making your converter turn to a certain station
at a certain time, so you can set up your VCR to record programming.
