Using Dual-Coil Switches and Attenuators
Many microwave
switches and attenuators have a paired drive input.
Typically, one drive is electrically connected to the lower channel number in a
bank and one connected to a corresponding upper channel number. For
example, on bank 2 a dual drive switch should have its ‘State A’ coil connected
to channel 21 and its ‘State B’ coil connected to channel 31.
The 34945A drives dual coil devices in pulsed mode only
(
ROUTe:CHANnel:DRIVe:PULSe:MODE ON
). Pairing two channels
(
ROUTe:CHANnel:DRIVe:PAIR:MODE ON
) automatically configures the
channels to pulsed mode. You must turn the paired mode ‘off’ before
continuous drive mode can be enabled).
Based on the distribution board installed,
presetting
the bank will either
enable paired mode (ON) or disable paired mode (OFF) according to the type
of switches supported by the board.
