Introduction to Programming
Agilent 876x Series and U9397A/C Switches
The Agilent 876x series and U9397A/C switches are supported on the
following distribution board:
• Y1155A
- 8762/8763/8764/8765 series (eight switches)
- 8766/8767 K series (two switches)
- 8768/8769 K series (one switch)
- U9397A/C (sixteen switches)
The bank diagram applies to all series of switches. The diagram is shown in
Figure 4-15. In this example, the 34945A is in 34980A slot 1
Presetting the Bank
In order to preset any of the banks on the 34945EXT module (the programming
of any switch or attenuator must begin with the preset state), ‘ Allow Full Control ’
(Figure 4-2) must be selected and the module’s channel drive must be off (Con-
figure Module... button).
To set the preset values for the 876x series and U9397A/C switches (Figure
4-15), select ‘
Preset Bank ’ in the Bank Configuration window. All switches
supported on this distribution board have the same preset settings. Presetting
the bank is equivalent to sending the SCPI commands shown, or to configuring
the switches to the settings indicated in the bank, module, and channel
configuration windows.
Changing Settings and Enabling the Channel Drive Source
Following the preset, use the bank configuration and channel configuration
windows (Figure 4-15) to change the preset settings as required. The SCPI
Command Interface window can also be used to send commands to the
instrument.
When complete, use the module configuration window to enable the channel
drive. (If using more than one 34945EXT, the channel drive source must be set
to EXTernal for all 34945EXT modules other than the master.) Use the bank
diagram to control (open/close) the switches (see “Y1155A Switch Control” in
Chapter 5 for more information).
Settings (commands) from any of these sources can be logged for transfer
to other programming environments (see “Logging SCPI Commands”).
Using other Agilent Switches with the Y1155A Distribution Board
Any of the Agilent switches and attenuators listed in Table 1-2 can be used
with the Y1155A distribution board. From the SCPI command Interface
window, the preset settings for a given switch or attenuator can be set by
sending the corresponding SCPI command for each preset value.
