Note

: “Average” and “ERES” mode use different averaging methods. The 

former uses “Waveform Average” and the latter uses “Dot Average”. 

 

 

ERES   

This mode uses a kind of ultra-sample technique to average the neighboring points of the sample 
waveform to reduce random noise in the input signal and generate much smoother waveforms on 
the screen. ERES mode is generally used when the sample rate of the digital converter is higher than 
the storage rate of the acquisition memory.   
 
ERES mode can be used on single-shot and repetitive signals and does not slow waveform updates. 
This mode does, however, limit the oscilloscope's real-time bandwidth because it effectively acts like a
