payload-scrambling <option>
Purpose
Use the payload-scrambling
<option> command to enable the Total Access 238 scrambler to
combine user data with pattern data to prevent long strings of consecutive 0s or 1s and
ensure user data does not mirror standard IMA messages. The scrambler setting must be the
same on both ends of the link. Use the no form of this command to disable data scrambling for
the IMA group.

Functional Notes
When operating IMA links, there is a possibility the payload data sequences may mimic IMA
maintenance functions and cause undesired operation. Use the payload-scrambling command
to prevent such occurrences. In addition, long sequences of consecutive 0s or 1s can cause
timing issues and can be avoided by enabling the scrambler. The scrambler setting must be
the same on both ends of the link.
