CLI INTRODUCTION

Accessing the CLI from a PC or Terminal
The PNS management and provisioning features may be accessed by a CLI using the DB-9
CRAFT
interface located on the front panel of the unit.
To establish CLI communication with the PNS, perform the following steps:
1. Connect to the
CRAFT
interface using a VT100 dumb terminal or PC with VT100 emulation
software configured with the following parameters:
• Data rate: 9600 baud
• Data bits: 8
• Parity bits: 0
• Stop bits: 1
• No flow control
2. Once connected, press
E
NTER
to access the CLI.
3. Enter username and password at the login prompt.
• The default username is
admin
.
• The default password is
password
.
The TA238# prompt will display.
Understanding Configuration Modes
The Total Access 238 CLI has two configuration modes to organize the configuration
commands:
• Global
• Interface
Each configuration mode supports a set of commands specific to the allowable parameters for
the mode. For example, all IMA configuration commands are accessible only through the
Interface Configuration Mode (for the virtual IMA interface).
