Chapter 7 Maintenance & Cleaning

Based on the inspection frequency, this chapter describes the items and
methods of maintenance and checks, and cleaning of the unit to maintain
it in good working condition.
WARNING
These inspection tasks can only be performed by those who has a good
knowledge of this machine.
1. Daily maintenance checks and cleaning
Check Items Working Contents
Gear motor
Check if any abnormal sound (particularly metallic sounds) occurs when
operating.

If an abnormal sound is emitted, stop operation immediately and
identify the cause of the noise.
CAUTION
Do not operate the granulator when an abnormal sound is emitted.

When an abnormal sound (Cutters chafing, metallic clank) emits from inside
the granulator, please use the specified gauge to check the cutter-clearance based
on the description on the adjusting diagram. If there are any problems, adjust
them based on the adjusting method, following the instructions by item
6-1, in
Chapter 7 .

It is sometimes possible to hear an abnormal sound from the gear motor in from
the gear coupling and drive shaft clearance, under a no-load operation. It is a
resonance sound made by the gear motor and drive-shaft. It will not be problematic
when turning the handle lightly by hand. If when turning the circumference of 360
degrees, you can hear the sound, or if it is harder to turn more than usual, please
check the bearings or the gear motor. Please check if any abnormal vibration occurs
during operation.

If abnormal vibration is emitted, stop the operation immediately and identify the
cause of the vibration.
CAUTION
Do not operate the machine when abnormal vibration occurs.
Check if the unit body and motor have abnormally high temperatures.

If an abnormal high-temperatures occurs, stop the operation immediately and
identify the cause.
CAUTION
Do not operate the granulator when high temperatures occurred.
Measure the load-current value during operation, and make sure that it is under the
rated value range. The rated value is noted on the motor

s nameplate.
Curtain (for fly-back
prevention) inside of the
feeding hopper Check for deterioration of the curtain (for fly-back prevention).

Replace it with a new fly-back prevention curtain when it deteriorates
drastically, or is brittle or damaged.
