Chapter 8 Trouble-shooting & Remedies

An overload occurs and the motor-breaker trips.
Check point Remedy Precaution
Check if too many sprue-runners
were added, causing an overload.
Check whether multiple runners
were being inserted into the feed
hopper. As shown in this manual, check
whether that the sprue doesn't
exceed the maximum standard
runner size.

Standard cutter 5*5---7 mm

Remove excess runners inside of
the feed hopper. Perform work after the primary power
supply is cut off.
When exceeding maximum standard runner
sizes, request a granulation test.
(Use the moment max. load electric
current at below twice motor rating.)
Insert a single runner only.
Check for foreign material in the
feed hopper and granulator. Remove the foreign material.
Particularly, check if metal or
other than granulating runners
were inserted.
If they were mixed, immediately
stop and remove all debris!
Also make sure no improper
material was sent to the
molding machine immediately!
If there are any damaged
components, replace them.
Perform work after the primary power
supply is cut off.
If any metal was inserted, stop all
operations, remove the crushed material
used and look into the cause.
To purchase parts or replace, make sure to
contact Service division
Check whether the granulating
ability was reduced. Repair the cause of the reduced
granulating ability. Refer to the chapter 7.1.
Check whether the bearing of the
driving part is in an overheated
condition.
Check whether the drive motor
properly starts. Check whether it turns smoothly
using the manual turn handle.
If it hardly rotates or cannot
rotate, the bearing or drive
geared motor is damaged. Then
repair or replace the bearings or
drive gear-motor. Perform work after the primary power
supply is cut off.
Contact our Service division for the
purchase and the replacement of bearings
or the drive gear motor.
Check whether the driving motor
starts normally. Repair or replace the driving
motor (gear motor). To purchase the geared motor or replace,
make sure to contact Service division
Check if the power supply cord
or the driving motor cable was
disconnected.
Check if there is any looseness
on any connections.

Tighten the connection points
of the power supply.
○
Replace the power supply
cord.
Perform work only after the primary power
supply is cut off.
Consult with a bonded, certified
electrician for assistance with electrical
checks.

If a thermal device trips, always troubleshoot and remove the cause of the overload first. Restart it after waiting
about 5 ~ 15 minutes

until the thermal safety device, or motor’s temperature, has cooled sufficiently.
It may cause damage to the motor when restarting if the temperature has not dropped sufficiently.
NOTE 1:
If foreign material was mixed in, after reliably confirming the cause, make a judgement call regarding
resumption of operation. All relevant processing personnel should be made aware of this matter.
