Configuring the Local-First Load Sharing Mechanism for Link Aggregation
In an IRF, if the egress port for packets that enter a device is an aggregate interface, and the member
ports of the corresponding link aggregation group are located on the current device as well as on other
member devices of the IRF, the packets will be load-shared among the link aggregation member ports
on the current member device only. If the current device does not have ports that belong to the link
aggregation group, the packets will be load-shared among all the link aggregation member ports. This
mechanism is called local-first load sharing. It can reduce the impact of traffic on the links connecting
member devices of a IRF. If this mechanism is absent, traffic will always be load-shared among all the
link aggregation member ports located on different member devices of the IRF.
For details about IRF, see
