1.3 Applications for the Prestige
Here are some example uses for which the Prestige is well suited.
1.3.1 Internet Access
The Prestige is the ideal high-speed Internet access solution. Your Prestige supports the TCP/IP protocol,
which the Internet uses exclusively. It is compatible with all major ADSL DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line
Access Multiplexer) providers. A DSLAM is a rack of DSL line cards with data multiplexed into a backbone
network interface/connection. Think of it as the equivalent of a modem rack for ADSL. In addition, you can
insert an optional wireless PCMICA card into the Prestige and allow wireless clients access to your network
resources. A typical Internet access application is shown below.
