REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY
REMOVING THE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER
ASSEMBLY
1. Stand the vehicle on a level surface.
WARNING
Securely support the vehicle so that there is
no danger of it falling over.
NOTE:
Place the vehicle on a suitable stand so that the
rear wheel is elevated.
CHECKING THE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER
ASSEMBLY
1. Check:
• Rear shock absorber rod
Bends/damage
→
Replace the rear shock
absorber assembly.
• Rear shock absorber
Oil leaks
→
Replace the rear shock absorber
assembly.
• Spring
Damage/wear
→
Replace the rear shock ab-
sorber assembly.
• Bushing
Damage/wear
→
Replace the rear shock ab-
sorber assembly.
• Bolts
Bends/damage/wear
→
Replace.
CHECKING THE CONNECTING ARM AND
RELAY ARM
1. Check:
• Connecting arms
• Relay arm
Damage/wear
→
Replace.
2. Check:
• Bearings
• Oil seals
Damage/pitting
→
Replace.
3. Check:
• Spacers
Damage/scratches
→
Replace.
INSTALLING THE RELAY ARM
1. Lubricate:
• Spacers
• Bearings
2. Install:
• Bearing “1”
(to the relay arm)
• Oil seal “2”
(to the relay arm)
INSTALLING THE REAR SHOCK
ABSORBER ASSEMBLY
1. Install:
• Rear shock absorber assembly
• Relay arm “1”
NOTE:
Install the portion of the relay arm with the small-
er bolt hole pitch to the frame as shown in the il-
lustration.
Recommended lubricant
Lithium-soap-base grease
Installed depth “a”
0.5 mm

2. Tighten:
• Rear shock absorber assembly upper nut
• Relay arm nut
• Rear shock absorber assembly lower nut
3. Install:
• Connecting arms
Install each connecting arm with its chamfered
side facing outward.
4. Tighten:
• Connecting arm nuts

3. Rear shock absorber assembly
4. Swingarm
5. Frame
