Replace the O-ring inside the collar

outer surface of the collar rides against the seal in the

aged.

Inspect the key, keyway in the jackshaft and key notch
in the brake disc. Replace any component that is exces-
sively worn or damaged.
8. Inspect the washer (Figure 32) and snap ring on the
and replace if necessary.
9. Reverse the removal steps to install the brake disc. In-
stall the brake disc so
wide side of the hub is inboard.
BLEEDING THE BRAKE SYSTEM
This procedure is necessary only when the
feels
spongy, there is a leak in the hydraulic system, a compo-
nent has been replaced or the brake fluid has been re-
placed.
Remove the caps
(Figure
then connect a length of
clear hose to each bleeder valve on the caliper. Place the
other end of each hose into a clean container. Fill the con-
tainer with enough fresh brake fluid to keep the hose ends
submerged. The hoses should be long enough so a loop
can be made higher than
bleeder valve to prevent air
from being drawn into the caliper during bleeding.

Cover the snowmobile with a heavy cloth or
plastic
to protect
it from accidental
fluid
spills.
Wash
spilled brake
fluid
all surfaces immediately. Use soapy wa-
ter and rinse completely.

Clean the top
of the master cylinder of all dirt and de-
bris. Remove the cover and diaphragm
(Figure 34). Fill
the reservoir to about
in.
(6.4-7.9 mm) from the
top. Reinstall the diaphragm to prevent the entry of dirt
and moisture.
