Disassembly
Refer to
Figure 14.
1. Remove the master cylinder as described in this chap-
ter.
2.
If
not already removed, remove the screws securing
the cover and remove the cover and diaphragm; pour out
any residual brake fluid and discard it. Never reuse brake
fluid.
3. Remove the pivot bolt and nut securing the brake lever
and remove the brake lever.
4. Remove the rubber boot
(Figure 18) from the area
where the hand lever actuates the internal piston.
5. Using snap ring pliers, remove the internal snap ring
(Figure 19) from the body.
6. Remove the
cup assembly
(Figure
20).
7. Remove the spring and primary cup
(Figure 21).
Inspection
1.
Clean all parts in denatured alcohol or brake
In-
spect the cylinder bore and piston contact surfaces for
wear and damage. If either part is less than perfect, replace
it.
