HOW TO RIDE
Most HYPE riders will ride with their stronger dominant foot to the back of the board. Usually the dominant
foot is the right foot, if your left foot is the dominant foot simply reverse these instructions.
Learn everything slowly, including new tricks. When losing balance don’t wait until you fall, step off and
start again. Ride down gentle slopes at first. Then ride slopes where your speed is only as fast as you
can run off the board without falling.
Most serious skateboard injuries are broken bones, so learn to fall (by rolling if possible) without the
skateboard first.
Skateboarders starting to learn need to try with a friend or parent. Most bad accidents happen in the first month.
Before you jump off a skateboard watch where it may go: it could injure someone else.
Join a club in your area and learn more. Prove you are a good skateboarder and care about yourself
and others.
1.
Place your left foot near the
top of the HYPE, try and remain
behind the point where the front
wheel is as this makes it easier to
balance at the start.
2.
Push slightly off the ground
with your right foot and step onto
the board. Your right foot should
be near the tail and you should
find your balance.
3.
Pivoting from your back foot
swing your front foot left and
right, moving your hips and your
arms will help you create mo-
mentum and you will be urban
surfing on your new HYPE!

CARING FOR YOUR HYPE
1.
After you have used the HYPE for a week or two, the wheels will need to bechecked to ensure they
are still in perfect working order. To do so, rotate the wheels and check the bearings for any lubrication
or adjustment that may be needed.
2.
The hardness of the rear truck may be adjusted by tightening or loosening the 13mm nut. This adjusts
the truck’s pre-load and will affect turning sensitivity. Heavier riders may also wish to adjust pre-load to
increase board stability.
3.
Please do not use solvents on your HYPE. They may erode the PU bushing and wheels and can also
damage the deck. To clean your HYPE, only use hot soapy water and a stiff brush or sponge. Do not
submerge the wheel bearings in water as this may remove wheel bearing lubricant.
4.
Do not leave your HYPE outdoors for long periods of time as continued exposure to the elements can
cause the components to degrade.
5.
Periodically check that all of the nuts, bolts and screws are adequately tightened and have not loos-
ened during use. Do not over-tighten.
6.
Periodically lubricate the wheel bearings.
7.
Due to normal wear and tear the PU wheels and bearings may need to be replaced
after some time. Please contact the place of purchase for new wheels. DO NOT use parts designed for
other products, the use of anything other than HYPE parts may affect your safety.
8.
Regularly check for splinters/cracks in the deck and replace with a HYPE deck if any are found.
9.
The self-locking nuts and other self-locking elements can lose their effectiveness if released.
10.
Check that the steering mechanism is correctly adjusted and that the connective components are
firmly secured and not broken.
11.
Ensure bearings are well-greased and free from dirt/debris before use.
12.
Wheels/cushions wear over time due to normal use. Replace when necessary.
13.
The hardness of the rear truck may be adjusted by tightening or loosening the nut. This adjusts the
truck’s pre-load and will affect turning sensitivity. Heavier riders may also wish to adjust pre-load to
increase board stability.
14.
Remove any sharp edges that may occur through use.
15.
Look for splinters/cracks in the deck and replace when needed.
16.
Do not mix old and new batteries..
17.
Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.
18.
Requires 2 x 1.5V AAA alkaline batteries.
