If there is no system-wide host name database, use the following procedure
to create a local hosts file. If there is a system-wide host database, skip the
following procedure.
To enter the host name of the DocuColor 4 LP/CP:
On the Windows NT 4.0 server and on each client computer, navigate to
the hosts file that you use for your network or for your local computer.
The path to a local hosts file will resemble the following:
c:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Open the hosts file with any ASCII text editor such as Notepad (Windows)
or Edit (DOS).
Type an entry for the DocuColor 4 LP/CP (IP address and host name)
similar to the other entries in this file.
The format of the hosts entry is:
IP Address<TAB>host name<TAB>#comments
where <TAB> indicates that you press the Tab key.
Type the entry without any spaces, but substitute the values appropriate
for your environment. The host name should be the same name you gave
to the DocuColor 4 LP/CP in the Server Setup on the control panel.
A sample entry for the DocuColor 4 LP/CP as the remote computer/
printer/copier, in which we’ve defined the host name of the printer/copier
as Astro is:
127.0.0.1<TAB>Astro<TAB>#Marketing_printer
To determine the IP Address and Server Name of your system, print a
Configuration page from the DocuColor 4 LP/CP printer control panel
(see page “Printing information pages” on page 41. ).
Save the file as “hosts” and exit the application.
