PNEUMATIC MAST WITH REMOTE LOCKING SYSTEM
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
TP-5580101-A
FEBRUARY 2022
The locking collar(s) (Figure 3-3):
• Guide bearings to reduce friction when contact is made between the guide plate and the latch
lever from the above intermediate tube
• Uses heat-treated super pins and a close azimuth design
• On the base tube:
• Locks and unlocks pneumatically
• Has two air cylinders which are used to actuate the locks. A reed switch in each air
cylinder (two total) communicates with the control to illuminate an LED when the mast is
pressurized (30 psi) and when the locks are unlocked
• Above the base tube
• Unlock mechanically when contact is made between the latch lever and the guide plate
from the lock below
• Use a spring to lock mechanically when the latch lever loses contact with the guide plate
from the lock below

The top tube has a top tube stop which prevents the top tube from sliding too far down into a
nested mast.
