Device Status
The parameter FD_RECOMMEN_ACT is a 16 bit enumeration that represents the device’s
summary of what it takes to fix its current health. The initial value is 0 (Not Initialized) when
RESTART WITH DEFAULTS is selected for a RESTART value and no immediate conditions
exists. If no conditions are detected when the Resource block is changed to AUTO then the
value will be 1 (No Action required). All other values are defined by the manufacturer and
represent the devices best analysis of what is the most serious condition or what the
aggregate of conditions may be caused by. The EDD help for each enumerated value should
guide the user in the actions to perform to correct the condition or conditions that are
present. Examples would be such as what parameters are not correct, what part or parts
need replaced, or what diagnostic needs to be performed.
FD Version
The FD_VER parameter reflects the value of the major version of Field Diagnostics
specification that the device was designed too. This allows hosts to distinguish between
changes that may be necessary to be made in such a recent specification.
Parameter Access
Parameter access is described in Reference (FOUNDATION™ Specification, Function Block
Application Process Part 1 – FF-890, Rev FS 1.10). The parameter access for a Field
Diagnostics group is located in the Resource block. A manufacturer may add parameters to
this list above or below the Field Diagnostic group of parameters, but must not remove any.
The Section 11.4.2 shows the complete list of the Resource block parameters and a short
description of each one. The parameters with indexes from 42 until 64 are related to the
Field Diagnostics group.
The configuration the parameters “FD_*_MASK”, “FD_*_MAP” and “FD_*_PRI” must be
definable by the user to allow for a variety of requirements but a default configuration must
be defined by the manufacturer. The default of the “FD_*_MASK” parameters can also be
defined by the Manufacturers but since the “FD_*_PRI” default is 0 all broadcasts and
detections will be inhibited.
