An updated list of approved oils is supplied for every installation.

7.1.4

Lubricating oil system in arctic conditions

The recommended minimum lubricating oil temperature for the prelubricating oil pump is 25°C
and the recommended minimum lubricating oil temperature for the engine starting and loading
is 40°C. The heating of the lubricating oil is typically done with the heater of the lubricating oil
separator. If no lubricating oil separator is installed onboard, then other means of heating the
lubricating oil are required.
