Lockout
The lockout state is described below.
State
Action or Function
Lockout
Resetting a soft
lockout
The burner will enter the lockout state for the following reasons:
■
Trial-for-ignition time has expired without flame being
established.
■
Cad cell detects flame at the end of the valve-on delay state.
■
Recycle time budget expires.
■
Relay check failure.
Note:
The burner control cannot reset by interrupting the
voltage.
During the lockout state:
■
The burner will not fire.
■
The red reset button/lockout light on the burner control will
flash during a
soft lockout
condition.
■
The reset button/lockout light will remain on continuously
during a
hard lockout
condition. See below.
■
The burner fault light on the control panel will illuminate.
To clear the
soft lockout
fault so a restart can be attempted,
press and release the reset button.
Note:
After the third attempt to manually clear the lockout fault,
the burner control will enter the hard lockout mode. See below
for important information on how to reset the burner control.
WARNING
Fire, explosion, asphyxiation, and burn hazards. Before starting
or resetting the burner control from a hard (restricted) lockout
state, troubleshoot the heating system for the root cause(s) of
the lockout.

Refer to the burner manufacturer’s documentation for safe
operating procedures.
►
Make any necessary repairs or adjustment to ensure a safe
start condition.
►
Ensure that the heat exchanger is free of oil and oil vapors
before starting or resetting the burner.
Resetting a hard
(restricted) lockout
Perform the procedure below to reset a burner control in hard
(restricted) lockout mode.
1. Allow the machine to cool for a
minimum of ten minutes
.
2. Remove the heat exchanger drain plug located
under the
burner
and drain any unburned residual fuel.
3. Inspect the burner nozzle and electrodes for proper setup
and function. See
Burner Setup
in this manual.
4. Re-install the heat exchanger drain plug.
5. Press and hold the reset button on the burner controller for
15 seconds.
