Eng ine oil viscosity
Only the following viscosity classes a re
permissible for p etrol engines:
SAE 10 W-30 (or higher than 30) or
SAE 5 W-30 (or higher than 30) or
SAE 0 W-30 (or higher than 30).
The range of applica tion of the oil is
dependent on the outside tem perature,
see the v iscosity chart.
Information on SAE classifications
Engine a nd transmission oils are classified
by the
S
ociety of
A
utom otiv e
E
ngineers
according to their visc osity. Viscosity is the
measure of internal friction of the oil in flux,
dependent on its temp erature.
The SAE classification does not provide
inform ation on the quality of the oil; it
merely indicates the ra nge of app lica tion
of the oil dependent on the outside
temperature; see chart.
Do not sw itch to a different viscosity in the
event of brief temp erature fluctuations.
Further information, see Service Booklet.
