ABS
The AB S (anti-loc k brake system)
continuously monitors the vehicle's brake
system and prev ents the wheels from
locking, irresp ective of the road condition
and tyre grip.
It starts to regulate the braking pressure as
soon a s a wheel shows a tendency to lock.
The vehicle rema ins steerable, even in the
event of v ery heavy braking, for insta nce
on bends or when swerving to a void an
obstacle. Ev en in the c ase of full-on
brak ing, the ABS mak es it possible to drive
round an obstacle w ithout releasing the
brak es.
The AB S mak es itself notic eable through
pulsating of the brak e pedal and the noise
of the regulation process. Your vehic le is
now in a critica l situation; the ABS allows
you to k eep control of the vehic le and
reminds you to match your speed to the
road c onditions.
If it illuminates when the hand brak e is
not applied: stop vehic le; interrupt your
journey im mediately. Consult a
workshop . We recom mend yourVauxhall
