Auto Power Reset page
The
Auto Power Reset
(ping reset)
page lets you enable and configure APR mode
parameters and view current status. Auto Power Reset (APR) monitors the connected PoE+
device and can restart it if it is unresponsive.
Note
: If the remote device does not need
PoE, the remote unit does not provide PoE. If you do not want PoE power from the Remote
unit to the remote (end) device, enable Auto Power Reset, select PoE Power Down mode
and ping an unused IP address on the subnet. Once it times out, PoE power will be disabled
until you use the pulldown on this page.
Auto Power Reset Configuration
Auto Power Reset Mode
: At the dropdown select Power Down PoE, Auto Mode, or
Timeout Mode. The default is
Disabled
. The other parameters on this page can only be
configured when this is changed from Disabled to Power Down PoE, Auto Mode, or
Timeout Mode. The other APR Mode parameters are:
Power Down PoE
: Pings start after the configurable Device Reboot Time. When the
configurable number of pings fail the PoE will power down. In this mode you must
configure Ping Interval, Ping Failures Before Action, and Device Reboot Time parameters
(described below). To recover, go to the Local PSE unit and change the Reset Mode
dropdown selection to anything, and then click the
Save
button. The PD device then
powers back up. No pinging occurs during the specified Device Reboot Time.
Auto Mode
: automatically self-determines if the device is connected; it pings until the end
device (ping target or PD) is found. No pinging occurs during the configurable Device
Reboot Time. During the configurable Auto Mode Timeout period, pinging occurs until
discovery or until the Auto Mode Timeout period is reached
(1 - 20 minutes). If discovery
occurs, Pinging continues per the specified settings. If no discovery occurs, the PoE will be
