Changing the Main Hard Drive  

Part I: Getting To Know Your Computer

Installing the Main Hard Drive

To install the main hard drive, follow these steps:

1 Place the hard drive in the hard drive slot.

Locating the lever

2 Push the small lever at the front of the slot to the right.

The hard drive drops into the slot.

3 Push the hard drive back into the hard drive slot so the 

drive joins firmly to the connector inside the slot. 

Be certain the hard drive is joined to the connector in the hard 
drive slot Do not push on the top of the drive. Press forward 
on its outer edge. If the hard drive isn’t connected, the com-
puter starts and goes through the memory check, but hangs 
when it cannot access the hard drive. 

4 Fold the handle back against the hard drive.

5 Replace the hard drive cover.

6 Slide the hard drive cover lock to the left to lock the cover.
