Removing the Steering Control Valve
Read and adhere to the information provided in
Removing and Installing the Hydraulic System Components (page 5–49)
prior to
removing hydraulic system components.
1. Remove the steering wheel and dash cover; refer to
Wheel, Instrument Panels and Dash Cover (page 8–16)
.
2. Clean the fittings and hydraulic line connections before disconnecting the
hydraulic lines to prevent system contamination.
3. Disconnect the hydraulic hoses and tubes from the steering control valve.
Cap the fittings and plug the lines to prevent contamination from entering
the system.
4. Remove the four flange head screws securing the steering column and
steering control valve to the plate.
5. Remove the steering column and steering control valve and retrieve the
alignment bushing (item 7).
6. Inspect the four neoprene mounts between the plate and frame for damage
and replace as necessary.
7. If fitting removal is necessary, mark the fitting orientation to allow for correct
assembly then remove the fittings from the valve and discard the O-rings.
