TRANSMISSION SERVICE
TRANSMISSION REMOVAL
CAUTION
Serious injury may result if machine tips or falls. Be
sure machine is secure before beginning this
procedure. Always wear eye protection.
1. Remove the cargo box and seat (see Chapter 5).
2. Disconnect the (-) negative battery cable from the
battery.
3. Raise and support the vehicle.
4. Remove rear wheels from the vehicle.
5. If internal transmission repair is required, drain the
transmission lubricant (see Chapter 2).
6. Remove the air box mounting bolt

7. Remove the breather hose

, loosen the air intake
duct clamps

, remove the duct mounting bolt

and
remove the intake duct
t
.
8. Disconnect the main harness from the ETC and TPS
at the throttle body.
9. Loosen the air box to throttle body clamp
y
and
move the air box assembly
u
out of the way towards
the driver’s seat.
10. Remove the outer clutch cover, drive belt, drive
clutch, driven clutch, inner clutch cover and clutch
outlet duct (see Chapter 6).
CAUTION
Be sure to use the correct Drive Clutch Puller (PA-
48595) to prevent damage to crankshaft.
11. Remove driveshaft from both sides (see Chapter 7).
12. Place a spacer or support between the vehicle frame
and engine to hold the engine up in position.
13. Remove vent hose from transmission.
