10. Maintenance
Changing and adjusting the unaligned double discs
The maintenance of the unaligned double discs must be done when a clearance between
the discs are noted or when they are damaged:
1. Remove the cap (A) by loosening up the bolts and spring washers from the hub (B);
2. Use a hex wrench to loosen up the hub (B) from the disc blade support (C);
3. Loosen up the disc blades (D) from the hubs (B) by unscrewing bolts (E) and nuts;
4. If there is a disc cover (F) on the disc blades, release it by removing the bolts (G) and
spring washers;
5. After replacing the disc blades (D), retighten both sides of the hub;
6. Being the disc blades assembled, check if they are turning freely. If the disc are
touching or if they are being forced, the operator must add thrust washers (H) on the
side that is more worn out. To do so, remove from one side of the disc blades and add
them on the other side;
7. After doing this process, the disc blades (D) will be free to turn and the friction between
them will be avoided.

- Use protection gloves to work with the disc blades.
- Have special care when changing the disc blades,
as the equipment must be lifted for that job,
using the safety devices along with the hydraulic
cylinders and following the safety standards.
