ENGINE OIL & FILTER
Oil Level Check
Check the level of the engine oil each time the vehicle is re-fueled or sooner.
This ensures the engine oil does not drop below the minimum level as well as
gives an indication of the engine oil condition.
WARNING
Engine oil is a known carcinogen. Prolonged and repeated exposure
may cause cancer. Wash skin exposed to engine oil thoroughly with
soap and water after handling.
CAUTION
Stop the engine immediately if the engine oil indicator lamp
illuminates while the engine is running! Severe engine damage
will occur if the engine continues to run.
Do not overfill the engine crankcase with oil. Severe engine
damage will occur if the crankcase is overfilled.

To check the level of the engine oil, use the following procedure:
Park the vehicle on a level surface. Stop the engine and wait two to three
minutes before checking the oil level.
Raise the bonnet.
Pull the engine oil dipstick, 1, from the dipstick tube and wipe clean with
a cloth. Replace the dipstick.
Remove the dipstick again and observe the level of the engine oil on
the dipstick. Add oil to the crankcase if the level is below the midpoint
between “MIN” (minimum) and “MAX” (maximum) marks.
Oil is added by removing the oil fill cap, 2, on the engine valve cover.
