MAINTENANCE AND CARE – DICOR Accessory Belts

ACCESSORY BELTS – DICOR ENGINES

CAUTION 

Tata  Motors  Limited  recommends  having  the  accessory  belt  (s) 

replaced at an authorized service outlet if found to be defective.  

Damage  to  engine  components  may  occur  if  belt  tension  is 

adjusted improperly.

Do not check belt tension with the engine running!  Severe bodily 

injury will occur.

Inspect the condition and tension of the accessory belts (alternator, 1, and A/

C compressor, 2) every 10,000 km.  Replace belts that are fraying or contain 

cracks.   Tension  of  the  belt  is  typically performed  with  a  special  gauge.   To 

obtain a general idea of proper belt tension, press on the center of the belt’s run.  

Deflection for the belts are as follows:

Alternator Belt – 5 mm - 6 mm
A/C Compressor Belt – 5 mm - 6 mm
