STARTING & DRIVING – Preparing to Drive
PRIOR TO DRIVING
Once seated inside the vehicle, perform a quick inspection / adjustment of the
following items:
Vehicle doors, bonnet, and trunk are fully closed and locked.
Adjust the seat to a comfortable position that allows full access to all
vehicle controls.
Adjust the rear and side view mirrors for an unobstructed view to the rear
of the vehicle.
Fasten seat belt and make sure passengers’ seat belts are fastened.
The parking brake is applied and the gear selector lever is in the neutral
position.
STARTING THE ENGINE
Use the following procedure to start the engine:
Insert the key into the ignition switch and rotate the switch forward from
the “LOCK” position to the “IGN” position.
The “CHECK ENGINE” and glow plug indicator lamps will illuminate.
Depress the clutch pedal fully.
Once the glow plug indicator lamp is no longer illuminated, turn the
ignition switch to the “START” position to crank the engine.
If the engine does not start, return the ignition switch to the “OFF”
position and wait thirty (30) seconds before trying again.

CAUTION
Do not operate the engine starter for longer than five (5) seconds or
damage to the starter may occur.
