CONTROLS & FEATURES – Tachometer and Fuel Gauge
Tachometer
The tachometer, also known as the RPM meter, displays the engine speed in
Revolutions Per Minute (RPMs) x 100. For example, if the gauge needle is
pointing to “20”, the engine speed is 2000 revolutions per minute. The tachometer
for vehicles equipped with the diesel engine is marked in graduations of 100
RPM, with a red line (maximum engine speed) of 5000 RPM, 1.
Monitor the tachometer as an indicator of when to shift to improve fuel economy
or acceleration.
Fuel Gauge
The fuel gauge is located within the tachometer gauge face. The fuel gauge
provides the driver with the approximate amount of diesel fuel remaining in the
vehicle’s tank.
The fuel tank capacity of the Indigo is 42 liters. When the fuel remaining in the
tank drops below approximately 8 liters, the gauge needle will enter the red area
the low fuel indicator, 2, will illuminate to alert the driver to refuel as soon as
possible.
CAUTION
Do not race the engine in the upper RPM range for long periods of
time. Damage to the engine may occur.
!
NOTE
For better vehicle operation, Tata Motors recommends not to let
the fuel level drop below a quarter of a tank.
The fuel gauge is dampened. After starting the engine, wait
approximately one minute before determining the amount of fuel
remaining in the tank.
