Before refitting the disc, ensure the mating surface
on the wheel hub is clean and free from corrosion
and debris. Do not use harsh abrasives such as a
metal file as this may cause the disc to warp when
fitted.
To remove the master cylinder from the machine,
disconnect the brake light switch and remove the 2
bolts (M5 x 16mm) securing the clamp and master
cylinder to the handlebars.
When refitting, tighten to 7Nm
Note; ensure the clamp is oriented correctly
when refitting.
To remove, adjust or replace the brake light switch,
see Chapter 7.3 : Lighting
If the brake requires bleeding, remove the 2 securing
bolts from the fluid reservoir and ensure it is topped
up (Mineral oil only).
The Talaria Sting L1e brake caliper uses a simple
blanking nipple with no outlet. Caution should be
taken to avoid excessive spillage or fire risk from spilt
fluids.
4.1 Front Brake System
5. To remove the front brake disc, remove the 6 bolts
(M5 x 10mm) securing it to the wheel hub.
When refitting, tighten to 8Nm and apply a
suitable thread locking agent and tighten in a
cross-diagonal pattern as shown.
Tip; To centralise the disc when refitting,
install the bolts loosely, then rotate the disc
clockwise against the wheel hub and tighten
the bolts while held in this position.
