7.4 Assembling the boom telescoping cylinder
1. Apply the following grease to the outer surface of
the boom telescoping cyliner and the support at
the front end of the cylinder.
[NOTICE]
Apply Daphne Eponex SR No. 2 grease to the outer
surface of the boom telescoping cylinder.
Apply Tadano genuine grease TNR to the support
at the front end of the cylinder.
2. Pass the wire ropes for extending the 3rd boom
section through the sheaves for extending the 3rd
boom section.
3. Install the sheaves for extending the 3rd boom
section to the support at the front end of the boom
telescoping cylinder.
4. Install the tool A to the rear end of the boom
telescoping cylinder.
5. Hook the unthreaded ends of the wire ropes for
extending the 3rd boom section on the tool A.
6. Pass the other (threaded) ends of the wire ropes
for extending the 3rd boom section through the
holes of the tool A and temporarily fix them with
nuts.
Adjust the wire ropes so that the chamfered
surface of the fitting is placed at the bottom.
[NOTICE]
Turn the wire ropes for extending the 3rd boom
section while being careful not to cause them to
kink.
7. Turn the nut until the wire rope becomes lightly
tight.
8. Put a mark at the end of the wire rope showing
the position of the chamfered surface of the wire
rope fitting.
In the figure below, the white paint shows the
position of the chamfered surface.
