IGNITION S Y S TEM CHECK
1. Remove the sp a rk plug a nd
re a tt a ch it to the ignition coil.
2. Put the engine stop switch in
the “

” position a nd the igni-
tion switch in the “ON” posi-
tion. While holding
a sp a rk
plug with its b a se firmly
a g a inst the engine, push the
electric st a rter switch. If the
ignition system is oper a ting
properly, a blue sp a rk should
jump a cross the sp a rk plug
g a p.
3 . If there is no sp a rk, cle a n the
sp a rk plug. Repl a ce it if neces-
s a ry. Retry the a bove proce-
dure with the cle a ned sp a rk
plug or a new one.
4. If there is still no sp a rk, t a ke
your motorcycle to a n a utho-
rized S uzuki de a ler.
COMPLAINT: Engine st a lls.
1. M a ke sure there is enough fuel
in the fuel t a nk.
2. If the electronic control system
indic a tor displ a ys “FI”, showing
signs of trouble in the fuel
injection system, t
a ke your

“IN S TRUMENT PANEL” sec-
tion for a n expl a n a tion of the
electronic control system indi-

a tor.
3 . Check the ignition system for
intermittent sp a rk.
4. Check the idle speed. The cor-
rect idle speed is 1200 – 1400
r/min.

