CATALYTIC CONVERTER
The purpose of the c

a
lytic con-
verter is to minimize the

mount
of h

rmful pollut
a
nts in your
motorcycle’s exh
a
ust. Use of
le
a
ded fuel in motorcycles
equipped with c
a
t
a
lytic converters
is prohibited bec
a
use le
a
d de
a
cti-
v
a
tes the pollut
a
nt-reducing com-
ponents of the c
a
t
a
lyst system.
The converter is designed to l
a
st
the life of the motorcycle under
norm
a
l us
a
ge
a
nd when unle
a
ded
fuel is used. Not speci
a
l m
a
inte-
n
a
nce is required on the con-
verter. However, it is very
import
a
nt to keep the engine
properly tuned. Engine misfiring,
which c
a
n result from
a
n improp-
erly tuned engine, m
a
y c
a
use
overhe
a
ting of the c
a
t
a
lyst. This

a
y result in perm

nent he
a
t

a
m
a
ge to the c
a
t
a
lyst
a
nd other
motorcycle components.
