RIDING TIPS
S TARTING THE ENGINE
Before a ttempting to st a rt the
engine, m a ke sure:
1. The tr a nsmission is in neutr a l.
2. The engine stop switch is in
the “

” position.
NOTE: This motorcycle has a
starter interlock system for the
ignition and starter circuit. The
engine can only be started if:
•
The transmission is in neutral
and the clutch is disengaged,
or
• The transmission is in gear,
the side stand is fully up and
the clutch is disengaged.
NOTE: The fuel supply system
stops the engine when the motor-
cycle is overturned. Turn off the
ignition switch before restarting
the engine.
NOTICE
If the neutral indicator li g ht and
the g ear po s ition indicator are
not g ivin g proper indication s ,
s tartin g the en g ine can cau s e
s eriou s en g ine dama g e.
Before s tartin g the en g ine,
make s ure of the followin gs :
• When the neutral indicator
li g ht come s on, the g ear
po s ition indicator s hould
indicate “0” (Neutral).
• When the neutral indicator
li g ht g oe s off, the g ear po s i-
tion indicator s hould indicate
either “1”, “2”, “3”, “4”, “5”
or “6”.
• If the neutral indicator li g ht
and the g ear po s ition indica-
tor are not workin g properly,
con s ult your S uzuki dealer.
