The initi a l service (bre a k-in m a in-
ten a nce) is the most import a nt
service your motorcycle will
receive. During bre
a k-in oper a -
tion, a ll of the engine components
will h a ve m a ted together a nd
se a ted. M a inten a nce required a s
p a rt of the initi a l service includes
correction of a ll a djustments,
tightening of a ll f a steners a nd
repl a cement of dirty oil. Timely
perform a nce of this service will
help m a ke sure you get the best
service life a nd perform a nce from
the engine.
NOTE: The 1000 km (600 miles)
service should be performed as
outlined in the INSPECTION AND
MAINTENANCE section of this
Owner’s Manual. Pay particular
attention to the CAUTION and
WARNING messages in that sec-
tion.
