Introduction
This manual is designed to assist with the operation and maintenance of the Pioneer Non-Powered Support Surface.
Carefully read this manual thoroughly before using or beginning maintenance on the support surface. To ensure safe
operation of this equipment, it is recommended that methods and procedures are established for educating and training
staff on the safe operation of the support surface.
INTENDED USE OF THE PRODUCT
Pioneer Support Surface is a non-powered pressure relieving stretcher pad that incorporates the combination of air and
foam technologies. This support surface is intended to assist in improving human patient outcomes, focusing on equalizing
pressure redistribution and enhancing comfort. Pioneer support surface is used to assist in the prevention of pressure
wounds.
This product is intended to be used:

With patients in the Emergency Department (ED).

In acute care, general hospital care, or other locations as prescribed by a physician
−
For multiple patients after appropriate cleaning/ disinfection, i.e., reusable; this product is not disposable.

On Stryker and other stretchers (See “ Specifications ” section on Page 6 )
This product is not intended to be used in a home health care environment.
This product is not designed to be waterproof. The excessive exposure to fluid could cause fluid intrusion through the cover
into the foam core. Refer to
Page 13 and 14 for Cleaning and Disinfection guide.
The Pioneer has a safe working load maximum of 700 pounds and therapeutic weight maximum of 290 pounds. The
patient must not exceed safe working load specified by the support surface, frame, and accessories. The use of this
support surface for patients outside the therapeutic weight maximum should be determined by a health care professional.
Patients shall meet the minimum age requirement of 2 years old.
This support surface is not intended to support a patient in a prone position, for example laying face downward. Pioneer
shall be used with a mattress cover at all times.
The Pioneer is not intended to be a sterile product, nor is it intended to include a measuring function. Pioneer has an
expected product life of three (3) years for the surface and three (3) years for the cover.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Pioneer is a non-powered support surface focusing on equalizing pressure and enhancing comfort. It
features interface-
regulated air adjustment to help balance pressure redistribution and management of pressure loading in high risk zones of
the body.
