P400/500 Soluble Release User Guide
Close the front door to the modeling envelope when you are using
materials that require envelope temperatures higher
than ambient.
Changing the FDM Tips
P400/500 Soluble Release Material must be used with a T12 or T16 support tip.
The T12 tip is recommended for a .007”– .010” slice. The T16 is for .010” – .012”
support tips The modeler tip can be T10, T12, or T16. The soluble support tips
are distinguished from the standard P400R tips as shown in the following
diagram.
Note
: Ring identifcation for tip size is the same as the standard tips: 2 rings
for T12, 3 rings for T16.
Before proceeding, make sure:
•
The Z stage platen is at least 6 inches below the FDM head.
•
The liquefier is heated to the correct temperature.
Attaching FDM Tips to the FDM WaterWorks Head
Your system comes supplied with a modeler and support tip. Make sure the
tips are inserted properly by following these steps:
Always make sure the FDM tip is designated for use with the cur-
rently mounted FDM head and loaded material.

Check the tip to make sure it is clean and has no nicks or scratches. Any
residue of material will be melted out in step four.
2. Place the o-ring into the groove on top of the tip according to the diagram
on page 9.
3.
Apply an anti-seizing lubricant to the tip’s threads.
Be careful not to strip the tip threads.
Wear heat resistant gloves to avoid direct skin contact with the
hot FDM head and liquefier opening.
