Reprogramming the Support Watlow
If you are switching from soluble material to ICW, the support watlow must
be reprogrammed. Currently the soluble material tells the watlow to lower to
a safe temperature while not in use, but when running wax, that “lower”
temperature is very high (wax runs at 75).

Setting up FDM Status to run ICW
1.
In FDM Status, click on to create a modeler which will accept wax.
2.
a.
Everything must remain the same as the original modeler
except the
type of support head. You must choose “other” in order to run
wax material.
3.
Select “wax head” as the modeler name in FDM Status.
4.
You are now ready to download files to the FDM system in wax.
Calibrating ICW
Replace the yellow foam with the blue foam, as ICW material builds on the
blue foam. When setting the tip to build with wax, you want to set the tip
on
the foam, not in it. Place a sheet of paper between the foam and the tip, raise
the foam until the tip is dragging on the paper, remove the paper, then build
at that height.
1.
Click on the calibration icon in FDM Status
2.
Select ICW form the material list in the configure modeler screen
3.
Calibrate wax the same way as ABS material
a.
You cannot measure the z height with a caliper, as wax is too
soft of a material. You will need to watch the tip height as it is
creating the cal box, and look at the calbox on it’s side and
determine if the height is close.
