Maintenance—Checking the Filament Sensor
Periodic Maintenance
Checking the Operation of the Filament Sensor
This procedure should be done monthly.
1) Unload the spools.
2) Place 2 lengths of filament into the sensor holes. Make sure the sensor
LEDs are lit.
3) Send an SML file such as calibration box to the FDM
4) Press the “Pause” button to begin modeling.
5) Start modeling without material. Pull out the filament near the main
material sensor block in the back of the FDM.
6) Wait for the FDM to pause (the light on the “Pause” button will flash.) If
it does not pause, call the Stratasys service department.
7) Press the “Enter” button on the control panel keypad.
8) Reload the length of filament into the sensor hole and press “Pause” to
resume modeling.
9) Repeat steps 5-8 for release material.
If the sensor light goes out while filament is loaded, or the sensor light is
on, but the keypad display reads “Filament Out,” the Filament sensor is
not working correctly. Call Stratasys Customer Support.
10) To continue with normal usage, reload filament into the FDM head.
