Z calibration

box. If the rectangle is difficult or impossible to remove, the Z value is too high
and should be adjusted in the negative direction. If the rectangle is not sticking
to the base very well, the Z value is too low and should be adjusted in the posi-
tive direction.

Preparing an Elastomer Part in Insight
Building a part in Insight with elastomer is very similar to building a part
using ABS, with the following changes:
1.
In the Modeler Setup menu, choose elastomer modeling and release
material, T16 for both tips, and a Z height of .01
2.
Sparse support can be used with the support material.
Before Starting Parts on the FDM
1.
Load the model and support material for several minutes.
Materials may sputter while loading. Continue loading until
material flows smoothly from the tips.
2.
Clean tips with the brass tip wipe brush between every part run.
3.
Clean the tip wipe brush in the back of the modeling envelope
between every part run.
When additional elastomer material is ordered, a new set of tip wipe
brushes will be included with the material. To ensure part quality, change
the tip wipe brushes whenever starting with a new spool of modeling
elastomer.
4.
“Auto Shut Off” is recommended for all parts. If the FDM
system is left on between running models, the material dete
riorates and can cause the tips to plug.
